Around the Table: Allowing D to Decide

Yesterday's breakfast was a time to listen, contemplate, and learn for the three of us. It has been two weeks since we learned that D has passed both Philippine Science High School and Ateneo de Manila University. The big question now is --- Where will he study?

Hubby and I told D to decide on his own because we don't want to impose any school on him. We thought that this might be a better alternative than us deciding for him. We want him to study in the school of his choice and not our's.

Are we subjecting him to a slow torture (since he's only twelve)? We believe not. We trust his judgement. We will support his decision all the way. Going to High School is a totally different ball game all together. And, we believe that this is the best time to equip him with his decision-making skills.

As of the moment, he has shown some preference over one school. This is a result of the many little talks we had, advices he got from true and trusted friends, and most important of all, from his talk with God. D has been earnestly praying for God's will on him.

Once he's finally settled with his decision, hubby and I will be by his side, supporting him in every way possible. And, we will promise never to blame him when the going gets tough.

Our simple prayer: For God to guide D all throughout this exercise. That God's decision will reign in his heart... "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the PEACE of GOD, which trancends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7)

Amen! ;)
